NYC Exhibition Closes out Exhibition Season with 97.7 Mark

-New York

-It wasn't the best score hoped for, but Tuesday's Kitchen Stadium USA exhibition topped out at 97.7 to close out the 2010 Feast Fest exhibitional season, Tuesday's being sort of a dress rehearsal for Thanksgiving. FF chefs followed the real Feast Fest format most closely at this exhibition, gearing up for the big day a few weeks away.

Turkey came away individually with 98.5, the highest score it's gotten all season, and a welcome sigh of relief from the 87.1 catastrophe the bird served up in Tokyo on October 14.

"It was a nice way to close out the exhibitions, and, I think with the results we've gotten here, we'll be very confident going into Feast Fest later in the month," said Jim McAllister.

There were a few drops, however. Without the Mason gravymasters on hand, the gravy dropped a tad, to 95.3. Cranberries, another strong point, saw a 94.3 reading, and pie warranted 96.0. The green beans and rolls, on the contrary, ended their longstanding reign as being struggling points of 97 or worse for the Feast Fest chefs as the green beans scored 98.6 and the rolls 99.1. It was the first time since the 2008 Lala Exhibition that rolls scored above 97, and the first time since the 2007 Feast Fest that the green beans scored above 97.

"Those were big surprises. It was a pleasant and welcomed shock to see those long standing struggling points finally coming our way," said Lynn Avi. "We were very happy about that."

Mashed potatoes and stuffing split even at 97.2.

"It was a nice way to close out," said Jan Stephan.

Now that the exhibitions have concluded, the chefs will return home until November 15, when all 57 are slated to meet in Los Angeles for the opening deliberations of Feast Fest 2010, which will begin November 24 and which will be competed for on Thanksgiving Day, November 25.
